nilsix is the joint project of two of music's finest – Orjan Nilsen and Mark Sixma. With a combined musical journey spanning over 40 years, Orjan and Mark bring an unparalleled wealth of experience and innovation to their art. Orjan Nilsen, renowned as the “king of melodies,” is responsible for some of the biggest trance classics in history. Mark Sixma, on the other hand, stands as one of the pioneers in the big room sounds.
Despite their individual successes, both artists faced the challenges of severe burnout post COVID, which prompted them to go into the studio together to simply “have fun” again. This sparked into an incomparable source of motivation, leading to them completing over 10 demos in the span of just a few months. Their debut single, "Anhedonia," was released on Dreamstate Records and became the label's most-streamed track to date, followed by their techno-infused release "The Void" and a 4-track EP later in 2024. They also remixed Orjan’s iconic classic "XIING," which dropped on Armind in November 2023. 2024 truly became the year of nilsix. The duo performed at top festivals and events worldwide, including S2O Festival in Korea, EDC Las Vegas, Dreamstate SoCal Mainstage, Trancera Festival in Vietnam, Transmission, Creamfields, and the iconic Ministry of Sound in London, alongside numerous club shows across Asia. Their releases spanned across staple labels such as Dreamstate Records, Armin van Buuren's Armind, and Revealed Recordings. Their "nilsix & friends" show at ADE sold out in under 3 hours. Initially intended as a temporary project, nilsix has become one of the most sought-after duos in their genre, showing no signs of slowing down as they head into 2025.
